Hi, we’re Katie’s other last job, looking after Mum, & we have so missed her. It felt like it was more than a job to her, she really cared & was so flexible to fit in with our changing needs. After Dad died, Katie would go across to Priddy for a couple of hours of an evening to sit & keep Mum company; and later when Mum was poorly & the girls were doing A levels she would do whole nights, I don’t know how we’d have managed without that. Then Mum was in hospital & Katie visited her lots, & helped make sure she was being well cared for. Mum then came to live with us in Blagdon, & Katie came too some days & nights a week, fitting in with the whole family which wasn’t easy I imagine. She was a special person & became an extended part of our family. Poppy too, you can’t really mention one without the other, it was always ‘Katie and Poppy’. On our days there would be a little crown drawn in the diary, for Mrs King. Mum loved outings to the farm, to watch the chickens, & chat to Pete. And when Katie was ill, it was still good to visit there & there was always a lively chat, she dealt bravely with her illness & still took an interest in everyone. We loved hearing about the wildflower garden plans, I hope it blooms well, & will be a good place for happy memories.
